A WVWB Designated Driver will drive for you as you visit our wonderful Valley, using your own vehicle. It is the cost-effective alternative to a formal wine tour.
Well, your booking with us is handled purely as a courtesy to the good people who drive and guide you. Your transaction is between your driver and yourself, and the fee is payable to your driver at the end of the trip. Willamette Valley Wine and Brew functions as a cooperative, and the full amount that you pay goes to your driver.
Your driver will contact you in advance, exchange contact details and make arrangements. We are based in the wine country, and so a Portland pickup attracts an extra hour.
What is different about WVWB? Well, we are a small group of friends, and the business functions as a cooperative. We all share a passion for NW wine, whiskey and beer, and although not one of us is in the first flush of youth, we love to get out of the house from time to time, tour the wine district and meet new and interesting people. Among us is a retired fire chief, an author/historian, a retired dairyman and a retired administrator. We know the beat, and would love to show you around.
This is a grey area, but lets say straight off the bat, that our preferred rental companies are, firstly, Turo, and secondly Enterprise. Turo allows driver on-boarding online, and Enterprise has offices in the wine country where it can be done in person. We are currently working with the others to facilitate a one-time on-boarding for our drivers, but it is proving to be an uphill struggle. However, as already mentioned, your transaction is directly with the driver, and if both parties are in agreement, who are we to argue?
Oregon, the Willamette Valley, and the North-West in general is known for fantastic beers and an almost supernatural diversity of breweries and and brew houses. At WVWB we offer a thinking persons brewery tour (most brewery tours are just party busses), taking in three to four premier breweries, guided by an authentic Oregonian beer enthusiast with a long and fruitful relationship with the beer of our Valley. We will either provide a vehicle or a Designated Driver to drive and guide you on a trip that takes in three to four different local breweries. These could be in the vicinity of Portland and Salem, the Columbia Gorge or the mid-Valley. Pricing is as per our wine tours, with an additional hour added for a Portland pickup.
The North-West is known also for great distilleries, and we can add distilleries to your wine or brewery tour, or put together a dedicated tasting tour at a selection of Oregon's finest.
